My Teaching Philosophy

Through fieldwork observation and my own experiences in pedagogy, I developed a teaching practice that is tied more to the essence of the ends of which music asks us and how, in this specific case as a flutist, we are able to get to the core of these ends through the flute. This practice is also valuable to me as an educator especially since artistic pursuits are incredibly meaningful to each person and it is crucial to be mindful of each musician’s journey. As teachers, it is also of the utmost importance to be highly protective and respectful to the student of whom we have the responsibility to guide in their personal growth. The link above summarizes the teaching philosophy that I adhere to with each of my own students and is one which I am incredibly passionate about in order to nurture the next generation of artists to the best of our abilities.
